Bright Spring Art Walk
Tour of Bright's artists and art venues.
Everyday, self-guided
This third edition of the Bright Spring Art Walk encourages locals and visitors to explore the wonderful art culture. Bright has many and varied artists in the community, some well-known and others hidden away, and many are showcasing their creations specially during the Bright Spring Festival. Some artists have joined with an open garden to offer a double viewing experience. Check our interactive map and go discovering.

- Alpine Artists painting & photographs: "Farms and Gardens" from the Permanent Collection.

Celebrate Spring Festival with a traditional High Tea in one of Bright's loveliest locations. Enjoy ribbon sandwiches, scones, luscious sweets and delicious favourites with bottomless tea or coffee. Sparkling package includes 2 glasses sparkling wine.

Myrtleford Show - 72 years!
Myrtleford Showgrounds.
The Myrtleford spring show was established in 1947 bringing local farmers, businesses and towns folk together to celebrate the rich and diverse produce and the amazing culture of the surrounding districts. The show has gone from strength to strength over the last 70 years, and is vibrant and exciting for the whole family.
Entry: Adults = $10,
Children from 5yo to 16yo = $5,
Children under 5yo = Free.
Bright & District Historical Society Museum
Former Railway Station, Railway Avenue, Bright
Turn right at the roundabout at the top of Ireland Street, Bright
Open: October 26, 27, 29, 31, and November 2, 3 & 5.
Time: 2pm to 4pm
The museum covers railway, gold and social history of the area. Local families feature in its photographic collection. There is rolling stock typical of that used on the Ovens Valley Railway. Many Chinese miners worked on the goldfields, and there is a replica of the Buckland Valley Joss House that was destroyed in the Buckland Riots of 1857.
Entry: $3 Adults, $1 children.

Come along to the Battery in Coronation Avenue just over Dougherty’s Bridge for a guided tour and explanation of the crushing process.

Spring Flea Market

Join the fun of the Spring Flea Market in partnership with the Bright Brewery and the Bright RSL Sub-branch. Someone's trash may be waiting there to become your treasure. Old wares and second hand goods. Come in for a look.

Tour of Bright Fire Station
Bright Fire Station, 20 Churchill Avenue, Bright
Time: 7pm sharp - also on Monday 4th November 2019
A reticulated water supply was established in 1892, then the residents of Bright banded together to form a fire brigade that would help protect the town. As of 19 May 1892, 29 people were registered as members of the Bright Urban Fire Brigade with the Country Fire Brigades Board and were known as Brigade No. 66.The original Bright Fire Station was a 24’ x 12’ timber shed built on railway land on the corner of Cobden Street and Bakers Gully Road which was replaced in Wills Street in 1968.
Since 1998, the brigade calls Churchill Avenue home, when the replacement fire station was built.
Come to enjoy this amazing tour of one of Bright iconic organisations.

"Murders and Mysteries"
Bright & District Historical Society.
Meet at the Alpine Shire Visitor Information Centre, 119 Gavan St, Bright
Time: 6:00 pm
Join a local historian on a walk to learn about Bright’s darker side. Tour takes approx. 1 hour. Wear suitable clothes and shoes for an evening walk around the streets.
Fee: $5 per person.
Booking: not required.

Photography Workshop
Pioneer Park Recreation Reserve, Bright.
Time: 1pm start
Local photographer, Jean-Pierre Ronco will conduct a photography workshop open to everyone from beginners to advanced photographers.
All participants will be able to unlock their camera features and capture the wonders of spring time around Bright.
Attention this photography workshop has limited places!
Entry: $60 per person.

Bright Spring Art Walk

Gold Mine and State Battery Tour.
Bright & District Historical Society.
Meet at the Museum in Railway Avenue at 9:30am to buy your ticket and get directions to the mine.
Return to yesteryear with a fascinating description of activities at the mine in Wandiligong, and then travel in convoy to the Bright State Battery in Coronation Avenue to see an intact quartz crushing battery. Today there are few as intact as this one. Have a home-cooked morning tea and a guided tour with an explanation of the crushing process.
Entry: $10 per person.

This year, we welcome Diana Sargeant, from Silkies Rose Farm in Clonbinane, as our consulting rosarian and guest speaker.
Diana will share her extensive knowledge of roses so that you are able to create the rose garden of your dreams and will be delighted to sign a copy of her book "ALL ABOUT ROSES" at her two presentations:
"The Establishment and Care of New and Young Roses."

Star Gazing with Bright Astronomy club
Alpine Park - Wandiligong.
Stargazers young and old can discover the wonders of the cosmos at this wonderful dark-sky location - no experience required.
If it is a good night, we will find the Milky Way and its inhabitants visible in clear and unobstructed skies.
Bring a telescope and/or binoculars if you have them, wear warm clothes and bring a folding chair or picnic blanket.
This event is weather dependent, fingers crossed for a good night.

Bright closes off the main shopping area to create a huge open-air street market with up to 200 stalls. With something for everyone; food, homemade items, craft, skincare, clothing, and plenty more together with entertainment and such a festive atmosphere, the Rotary street market has become a "must-do".
